We are delighted to welcome you to Valparaíso – Viña del Mar, Chile, for the IALE World Congress 2027.
To help you prepare your visit, we encourage all participants to review the following travel information before making their travel arrangements.
Passport & Visa
All international participants must travel with a valid passport.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. We strongly recommend checking the official website of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs before booking your trip to determine whether you require a visa or any prior travel authorization.
Participants requiring a visa to attend the Congress may request an Official Letter of Invitation from the Organizing Committee after completing their registration.Please note that invitation letters are issued exclusively to support visa applications and do not guarantee the approval of a visa, which remains at the discretion of the Chilean authorities.
Health Requirements
Participants are responsible for complying with all health and entry requirements established by the Government of Chile at the time of travel.Should any vaccination, health declaration or other sanitary measures be required closer to the Congress dates, this page will be updated accordingly.
For your own protection, we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering the entire duration of your stay in Chile. The IALE World Congress 2027 Organizing Committee cannot accept responsibility for medical expenses, travel disruptions, lost luggage or other personal costs incurred during participation in the Congress.
Customs & Biosecurity
Chile maintains strict agricultural and biosecurity regulations.Upon arrival, travelers must declare any food, seeds, plants, animal products or other regulated items they are carrying.Failure to declare restricted items may result in significant fines.For further information, please consult the Chilean Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG).
Getting to Valparaíso & Viña del Mar
The nearest international gateway is Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) in Santiago.Valparaíso and Viña del Mar are located approximately 120 km from Santiago International Airport, with an average travel time of 1.5 to 2 hours.Participants may reach the Congress venue using:• Airport transfer services• Private shuttle services• Intercity buses• Taxi or ride-sharing servicesCloser to the Congress, the Organizing Committee will provide additional recommendations regarding transportation options and negotiated services.
Transportation
Uber, Cabify and licensed taxis are widely available in Santiago, Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. Public transportation is reliable and affordable, while private transportation services will also be available for Congress-related activities.
Personal safety
Chile is considered one of the safest countries in South America for international visitors. Nevertheless, as in any major tourist destination, participants are encouraged to take standard precautions, such as keeping personal belongings secure and remaining aware of their surroundings in crowded areas.
Weather in November
November corresponds to late spring in central Chile.Typical temperatures range between 14°C and 23°C (57°F–73°F), with generally pleasant weather and low rainfall. We recommend bringing:• Light clothing for daytime activities• A light jacket or sweater for evenings• Comfortable walking shoes• Sun protection (hat, sunglasses and sunscreen)
Currency
The official currency of Chile is the Chilean Peso (CLP).Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and most tourist services.ATMs are readily available throughout Santiago, Valparaíso and Viña del Mar.
Tipping
In restaurants, a 10% tip is customary and is usually suggested on the bill. Tipping hotel staff and taxi drivers is appreciated but optional

Voltage: 220 V• Frequency: 50 Hz• Plug types: C and LVisitors travelling from countries using different plug types should bring an appropriate travel adapter.
Language
The official language of Chile is Spanish.English is commonly spoken in hotels, airports and many tourism-related businesses, although it may be less common in smaller establishments.
